Things are going well, as planned. I've taken the steps we'd agreed upon. Soon the imposter will suffer the way we'd agreed.
Things here seem to be going well also. I've included Lynnie like Mom would want, you should be pleased with how well she's coming along. Someday she'll be a fine necromancer, just like you. She's made a friend among one of our allies, and I think the last member of my little group staying here is warming up to her as well.
As for my condition, it's no better. If I can't cure myself, at least I can devote my life to avenging the wrongs done my family. I know this will succeed, Dad, and you can be proud of me, despite my condition; proud the way a father should be of his only son.

I just wish I could tell you that in person.

Dear mom,
By now I'm sure you've noticed that I'm gone. Probably the dishes needed doing. Well, tough darts. You'll have to do them yourself, because I'm not comiing back. I've finally found some people who understand me, some friends maybe, and I'm not ever going to return to New Haven to live with you.

-- Theta 02648, daughter of Theta 4257 (called Hagar).

Dear Mum,
Hi mommy! What's up with you? I hope this letter finds you well-- heck, I hope it finds you. Just because you didn't reply to the last 6 letters I sent doesn't mean you won't get this one, right?
I know you havn't seen me in a while, but I'm doing well. My fur is growing in nicely, just like yours did, and I've been studying dad's books for help with my powers, so don't feel bad. It's not like you abandoned me or anything. I totally understand why the king's former consort wouldn't be able to stick around when he goes evil. But hey, now that he's good again, I'm sure you'll be back any day now, right? In the meantime, I'll keep writing you letters.

Don't worry about me, I'm not lonely or anything. Actually, I've made a few new friends! I've enclosed some photos below. That girl with the black hair is called Theta. She's, let's see... well, she's a distant relation anyway. Through marriage. I like her, she's fun. She can corrupt things with a touch and sometimes at a distance-- the ground gets all bubbly and black, and people get the Plague. But it only takes a little friendship to lighten her mood up.

The boy is named Sigma. I don't know much about him except his mom was called Sigma, and she wasn't a "standard unit", whatever that means. He's got psychic powers, and he's been working on-- oh, I shouldn't tell you that one, it's top secret. Well, when we're all over the news in a few days, you'll find out, I'm sure. I know he's cute, but...

somehow I don't think he's quite interested.
Write back soon!
Your daughter,
Lyn
